John is an experienced advocate who appears regularly as counsel in criminal trials in South Australia’s lower and higher courts and as lead counsel in appellate proceedings before the Court of Appeal.

John’s experience spans a broad range of complex criminal matters, including abuse of public office, allegations of large scale, systematic thefts, serious sexual offending including matters involving multiple complainants, causing death by dangerous driving and criminal neglect.

He has developed a particular interest in, and familiarity with, expert evidence concerning electronic crime evidence, mobile cell tower location data and DNA.

In addition to his experience in the criminal law, John has experience appearing in inquiries, having acted as Counsel Assisting the State Coroner in a variety of Inquests including those concerning complex medical issues and deaths in custody.

After being admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor in 2011, John commenced his legal career as an Associate to the Judges of the District Court and subsequently, as Associate to the Honourable Justice Michael David of the Supreme Court.
